Most website visitors leave without ever contacting you. They browse, they wonder, and then they're gone — often to a competitor who answered their question faster. Chatsloop's automatic lead capture changes that equation by collecting visitor information during the natural flow of a conversation.
How Lead Capture Works
When a visitor starts chatting, your chatbot can be configured to ask for their contact details at the right moment — not as a gate that blocks the conversation, but as a natural part of helping them.
For example:
> Visitor: What are your pricing plans?
>
> Chatbot: We have three plans starting from £29/month. Before I give you a detailed breakdown, may I grab your name and email so I can send you a full comparison?
This approach converts because the visitor is already engaged and asking relevant questions.
Setting Up Lead Capture
Step 1: Enable Lead Capture
Go to Features → Lead Capture and toggle it on.
Step 2: Choose What to Collect
Select the fields you want to capture:
- →Name (first name, or full name)
- →Email address (required for follow-up)
- →Phone number (optional, for high-intent leads)
- →Company name (useful for B2B)
- →Custom fields — anything else relevant to your business
Step 3: Set the Trigger
Choose when the chatbot asks for contact details:
- →After N messages — ask after the visitor has shown engagement (e.g., after 3 messages)
- →On specific intent — when the visitor asks about pricing, booking, or availability
- →Before handoff — when escalating to a human agent
Triggering too early (first message) lowers response rates. Triggering after 3–4 messages, when the visitor is clearly interested, significantly improves conversion.
Step 4: Write a Natural Ask
Don't make the lead capture feel like a form. Write it conversationally:
> "To make sure I send you the most relevant information, could I grab your name and email?"
Step 5: Set Up Notifications
Under Lead Notifications, add your email address. You'll receive an instant notification whenever a new lead is captured, including:
- →Contact details
- →The conversation transcript
- →Lead quality score
- →Visitor location and device
Lead Quality Scoring
Chatsloop automatically scores leads based on:
- →Engagement depth (number of messages)
- →Topics discussed (pricing conversations score higher)
- →Contact information completeness
- →Visitor behaviour (pages visited, time on site)
High-quality leads are flagged so you can prioritize your follow-up.
Exporting Leads
All leads appear in your Leads tab. Export to CSV at any time, or integrate with your CRM via webhook.
The businesses that benefit most from lead capture are those that respond within the first hour. Set up email notifications and a follow-up routine to make the most of every captured contact.
